I was a little intimidated by the prospect of making my own baby food. I thought that it would definitely be a ton of work. I also thought that there was no way it would save me as much money as people claimed!
I was completely wrong. Once I got going, making baby food was one of the easiest parts of being a mom! I started slow, by mashing bananas and avocados (both chalk full of vitamins and since I made them I was guaranteed no preservatives or dyes). As I wanted to introduce new foods to my daughter I employed a blender, some water, a steaming pot and ice cube trays!
I would simply steam whatever vegetable I wanted to make until it was very mushy/well done. Then I put the food into the blender with a little bit of water and presto! Once I had figured out that ice cube trays were the perfect serving size, I was ready to go! For soft fruit I just blended it as is! I found this method perfect even for things like lentils and kidney beans!
